The Week Is Over

The Week Is Over

But You're Not Finished.
The week is over.

Five days gone.

Just like that.

It's Friday, which means it's time to ask yourself a simple question:

Did you get better this week?

Not, "Did you stay busy?"

Not, "Did you mean to train?"

Not, "Did you have good intentions?"

Did you actually get better?

How was your training?

How was your mindset?

How was your recovery?

How was your nutrition?

How was your sleep?

How was your focus?

Did you spend time visualizing your success?

Did you watch Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final as a fan?

Or did you watch it as a student of the game?

Were you imagining yourself out there making those plays at full speed?

Were you studying the details?

The positioning.

The decisions.

The habits.

The work ethic that allows players to perform under that kind of pressure.

Did you give everything you had in the gym?

Did you improve your skills?

Did you move one step closer to the player you want to become?

Because here's the reality.

The next hockey season still feels far away.

Three months.

Maybe four.

But trust me.

It isn't.

One day you'll wake up and training camp will be right around the corner.

Tryouts will be staring you in the face.

And whatever you've done this summer will show.

The work always reveals itself.

So take inventory of your week.

Be honest.

Not with your parents.

Not with your coaches.

Not with your teammates.

Be honest with yourself.

Did you make the right choices?

Did you put the right fuel into your body?

Did you do the things that move you closer to your goals?

Or farther away from them?

Now we head into the weekend.

Summer is in full swing.

The weather is beautiful.

There are plenty of distractions.

And that's exactly why weekends matter.

A lot of players work hard Monday through Friday.

Then they spend the weekend undoing everything.

They stay up late.

They skip workouts.

They eat garbage.

They lose focus.

And on Monday they have to start all over again.

Don't be that player.

Enjoy your weekend.

Rest your body.

Rest your mind.

Spend time with family and friends.

But don't take your eyes off the prize.

Don't forget what you're working toward.

Don't forget the dream.

Because next week is coming.

Another opportunity.

Another seven days.

Another chance to move one step closer to becoming the player you want to be.

The week is over.

The mission is not.

P.S. The players who improve the most over the summer are usually the players who find ways to get extra reps when everyone else is taking time off. The Wraparound lets you train with your actual stick anywhere, anytime, without destroying your blade. If you're serious about getting better this offseason, make sure you're putting in the reps.
